What causes chronic pain?

Chronic pain may occur due to secondary to minor trauma or after a surgical procedure, but continues long after the patient has "healed" or has been discharged by the doctor.

Studies on the etiology of chronic pain establish a link with a psychological process called somatization, in which emotional states are manifested in organic conditions and some have been linked to situations of anxiety, depression or emotional distress.

Regardless of the origin or etiology of chronic pain, do not forget that it is a condition that affects the life of the sufferer. Since all activities are altered. Thus we find that it interferes with work, social, sexual, studies, etc. Which leads to the patient has feelings of hopelessness and helplessness. This in turn increases the stress getting to depression, isolation and sometimes suicide.

The most common type of chronic pain is located on head and back. But this condition can be caused by entities such as arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis and other inflammatory conditions, neuropathy postherpes zoster, Bell's palsy, diabetic neuropathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, postoperative sequelae with injuries to nerves, etc.
